You might try contacting 1 of the auction houses who deal in Asian art; there are many on the net! David.

大漢昭烈帝(?)賜
五虎將馬昭永用

(word for word)
Great Han Zhao virtuous emperor (something) bestows
Five Tigers general horse illustrious eternal use.

There was a Han emperor whose reign name was Zhao 昭, who reigned from 1297 to 1309.

But before you get too excited about the possibility that this dates from his reign, I doubt the style of characters is consistent for the period, and appears to be based on a later style.

You didn't give any dimensions.

Hi Mike
came across this old post of yours. Very interested to make contact with you. I think the expression is 'the great Han dynasty emperor grants tIhe use of this to 5 tiger general Ma Zhao for his use', I'm being offered a plaque for sale with exactly this on it. Tiger fighting Dragon on the front. Where did you come across the plaque? Did you buy it?
