Subject:Japanese Blue Cranes Figural Porcelain
Posted By: Donald Ross Wed, May 14, 2014 IP: 162.232.214.6 Please help, if you can, to identify and/or provide information about this 10" tall porcelain statuette of a pair of blue cranes seated on a tree stump. I believe it to be Japanese. Please forgive me if the insignia from the bottom is upside down in my picture. I would like to know the maker's name, the approximate year of manufacture and some notion of its monetary and cultural value. |

Subject:Re: Japanese Blue Cranes Figural Porcelain
Posted By: Hiro Tue, Jun 17, 2014 Hi! The sign says "九谷 八幡窯”. This is one of most famous Kutani Porcelain in Japan. This is made at Yawata kiln(Yawatamachi, Komatsu-City, Ishikawa-Prefecture, Japan, 923-0954), and is probably made at SHOWA-Era(1925-present). I don't know exact market value but I attach the link to the Japanese Acution site. Those wares are made in same kiln. It seems that the price is not so high. But your porcelain has way better quality therefore price will go higher I guess. Hope this help. |
