Subject:Can you help me identify this vase please
Posted By: Billie Sun, May 18, 2014 IP: 121.219.107.35

I think it is probably Thai... hoping it is 1920's?
Bought it 20 years ago in Bangkok as an "antique."
I would be very grateful for any help
Thank you

The characters on the bottom of your vase read down and across from the top right as "Registered Mark of Jin Yufeng" (Jin Yu Feng Ji - 金玉鋒記). See the link below for images of another piece of porcelain with this mark under discussion by a Mainland China website. I gather that Jin Yufeng was a Republic-era (1912-1949) porcelain-maker. Thailand and Indonesia both have the porcelain-making infrastructure and expertise to produce ersatz Chinese antique porcelains with character markings.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Dear Bill,
Thank you very much. I did further research and discovered upon reading several articles from mainland China that this artist was prominent during Qing Guangxu dynasty. Which is 1871-1908. So my theory is it is possibly 1900's- 1920 as first thought. I am very grateful for your time and expertise.
Billie H
