Subject:Chinese Temple Jar.
Posted By: Andrew Fri, May 23, 2014 IP: 71.32.74.192

Hello to all.

I'd greatly appreciate identification and comments regarding the Temple Jar I purchased from a reputable antique dealer in Minneapolis in the 70's. I was told it had been a acquired from a temple and dated early 20th century. it is 20 inches tall and 10 inches diameter at the widest. Had old colored paper streamers in it. Any estimate of value appreciated. Thanks.

The "Made in..." stamp was required by a 1914 tariff law. As it appears yours was stamped during manufacture, your antiques dealer wasn't all that reputable. The temple couldn't have had it more than a couple of years.

Cheers,
Stan
