Subject:famille noir plate , how old is it?

hello all

i am trying to find out how old this chinese famille noir plate is, everything i know is telling me 18th/19th century.
it is uneven slightly warped has a thick uneven glaze that has separated in parts with small age spots aswell.

It is a modern copy (late 20th c.)

It is good that you are studying the glaze and not relying on marks as so many do (although there are none on this piece), but you are missing the most obvious problem with the plate - the color.

The colors are too muted and pasty for any Chinese porcelain from the 18th & 19th c.

True Famille noir has a highly glossy black background. 18th c. examples have a greenish tint to the background while 19th c. examples do not.

The other enamel colors used to decorate the porcelain are from the 'Famille verte' style and are always bright, glossy, and sharply defined against the black background.

There are Chinese porcelains that use a duller black background from the 19th c. (and perhaps the 18th c.), for example 'black ground famille rose', but they also have vibrant & glossy enamel decor.
