Posted By: Stan Wed, Jul 09, 2014 What is the material? I don't see any Schreger lines (not ivory). It looks like it might be cast. The signature looks like it was carved with a rotary tool. Both are not good signs. |

Subject:Re: Re: Netsuke signature known?
Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Fri, Jul 11, 2014 I am asking about the size, because if it is a small one, this is then a modern Tagua-nut carving. And therefore the signature is not important. |

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Fri, Jul 11, 2014 Yes, it is also called plant ivory, and about twenty or more years ago, some were very finely carved. Then it got rougher, and next were those who were sliced |

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Sun, Aug 10, 2014 A little eye opener: Look at picture # 2, look at that "signature", it is in a round white field, which is the proof of it being a Tagua nut. |

Posted By: Ronaldo Mon, Aug 11, 2014 This not Tagua but ivory = tested. White spot was made by photoshop to mark area of signature. From a picture you cannot see if it is ivory or not. Thanks for promoting your netsukes. Nobody is able to read the signature? |
