Subject:ID Military Medallion

I need your help and knowledge to ID this bronze military medallion. I believe it is Japanese and pre-dates 1945. Measures 2 1/4" in diameter.

The previous owner stated that he brought it back from Saipan during WWII.

I've scoured the the web for information without success. I would appreciate any information I can get as to the date and nature of this striking medallion.

Since I posted this entry, I've found out that this medallion was issued by the the Japanese mint (mint marked in photo #3) to commemorate the Japanese Crown Prince's Hirohito Overseas Voyage, dated Taisho 10 [1921] March 3.
