Hello All! Can anyone identify this blue and white ruffled porcelain vase? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! David.

The shape looks like that of some Japanese Seto vases I've seen, but that dark blue doesn't seem typical of Seto wares.

Best regards,

Bill H

Thanx allot Bill; so this vase is NOT Seto ware? David.

Could be Seto for all I know, but the blue just isn't the brighter shade I associate with the antique Seto wares that have passed my way. Here are a couple of pictures, first a 10.5 inch-tall pot that may have been a water container or perhaps a hibachi. Then a 16 inch-tall vase. Both have applied dragon decoration in the Hirado style, as well as blues meant to mimic the Hirado palette. Period made probably late Meiji or Taisho (circa 1900-1925)
