Subject:Painted silk still life
Posted By: Allen Sun, Aug 31, 2014 IP: 50.175.120.176

Hi,
I have a still life painting that seems to be painted on a silk or cotton fabric. Any ideas? It's framed in a bamboo or simulated bamboo frame and has a sticker from a fine art gallery in Ohio that has been closed for many years. Thanks in advance.

Looks quite lovely but I don't have any insights into this painting (in case anyone was wondering!). It doesn't look like the typical Chinese export painting on pith paper, yet is set off on its own rather than part of a larger scene of "100 antiques" where similar bowls of fruit might appear. Perhaps it is Chinoiserie (ie by a European artist in Chinese style), but my knowledge is limited to Chinese paintings in traditional styles I'm afraid.
