Posted By: Kendall Wed, Oct 01, 2014 IP: 75.83.194.153

Hi guys I want to verify the authenticity of this piece. I received this as a gift while I was in Xinjiang, China in August 2013. Thanks!

If the density and refractive index are correct, this is nephrite. Regards, Jim

It appears to be nephrite jade, whether it is really Hetian nephrite jade or just Kulun mountain jade from Qinghai or other sources would be another story. I saw similar ones selling pretty cheap on eBay, all with similar certificates, which is a dime a dozen. The certificate calls it Hetian jade (sugar mutton fat jade)and I think that is really funny. It is nothing close to being mutton-fat.

Hello Kendall,

Althrougt I am the first to be skeptic about chinese certificate in generally, this looks like Hetian jade, the real one, not Qinhai nor russian (slightly different white from Hetian jade).

The certificate looks authentic too.

Nice white color and good carving make it a interesting piece worth collecting...anyway a nice gift.

Most probably "shanliao" (mountain origine) but frankly impossible to say for sure. Price tag is indicative, but quality comes at a price... (8g ? I wonder what measurement). it is certainly worth several hundreds $ at least.
