Subject:japanese okimono

Posted By: Guy Mon, Dec 01, 2014 The name on the base reads 'Hôgyoku' (宝玉). This name (with the 1st kanji written in different ways) was used by ivory carvers during the Meiji era. |

Posted By: David Tue, Dec 02, 2014 Thanx allot Guy for replying to my query; this okimono is a bit of a stumper; I have had it for a while and did perform the standard hot pin test; the pin DID penetrate the material so I know it is NOT ivory; a synthetic material of some sort. Any value to it at all? David. |
