Subject:Can anyone identify this artwork?

The embroidery is so fine that my 10mpx camera can't pick it up. From about 5 ft away it looks like a high res photo. They were purchased in China in the 1960's. Also, was does the mark read?

It may be that your artwork looks like a photograph because it is a reproduction of a photograph woven using a Jacquard loom, a device that's been around since the early 1800s and which computerized the weaving process using punch cards. Such cards remained the basis of mechanized data processing well into the 20th century. See the link for further information.
