Subject:Question about a little chinese porcelain pillow
Posted By: Luciano Mon, Jan 26, 2015 IP: 193.204.90.190

Hello,
I have what I believe to be a little chinese porcelain pillow you see in the attached pictures: I would like to know the meaning of the writing and something about the mark.
Thank you in advance for your kind help and greetings from Rome,
Luciano

unfortunately this seems to be an imitation/fake claiming to date to 1915 and be painted by prominent ceramic artist Liu Yucen 刘雨岑. works by him and the other "eight friends of zhushan" have become quite collectible in recent years, thereby inviting forgeries.

Hello,
thank you so much for your kind and expert answer: I have bought this object about ten years ago but, at the time, it was described just as an old porcelain pillow, no more.
I am sorry for my poor knowledge, I am very glad to learn what you wrote: I did not know Liu Yucen and "The Eight Friends of Zhushan"...
Anyway, I have always considered this object very well made and painted: now I understand that it is almost surely a copy but I publish some better detailed pictures for your consideration.
Thank you again for the important informations and best regards,
Luciano
