Subject:China Teapot

Dear all

I have three China teapots. I will be adding them separately to the message board.

Can you kindly be of help to determine the period and age of the teapot.

What does the mark on the base denote?

Your knowledge and assistance is greatly appreciated.

Yours sincerely

Richard

I have just noticed two marks under the handle. The photograph is attached to this message.he photo is a different color to the other images of the teapot as I am taking this in the evening.

Thank you.

思亭pavilion of contemplation (or of memory), again most likely something inscribed by an owner, not a maker's mark.

Thank you. Wonderful. It has more resonance than a simple makers mark. I like it.

Is there any way to determine it's age?

this isn't a maker's mark but a poetic phrase, 风花
片香, literally "wind, flowers, a slice, fragrance (or perhaps incense)". looks like an attractive teapot, interesting that this is added to the base rather than the sides, shows some good taste in placement and in carving.

Hi Rat

Thank you. Do the markings on the base mean "wind, flowers, a slice, fragrance (or perhaps incense)" or the markings underneath the handle?
