Subject:Theme of Satsuma vase, Sino Japanese war ? Kinkozan tsukuru

Hi ,
I have been trying to find out what the theme of this 26cm Satsuma vase is .
I asked on the ebay antiques forum and a kind person suggested that these may be Chinese officials signing/reading documents regarding the Sino Chinese war.
Would this fit ?
I would be most thankful for any help or other suggestions.
The mark I believe is Kinkozan tsukuru , although the date of this is unknown .
