Subject:Republic porcelain - Artist signature translation?
Posted By: Greeno Fri, May 08, 2015 IP: 76.110.209.69 A friend of mine translated the writing on this jar to read 'Qianlong 1936, March' and signed Shu Chi. |

Subject:Republic porcelain - Artist signature translation?
Posted By: rat Sat, May 09, 2015 There's no "shu chi" that I can see. Instead the bingzi cyclical year seems intended to date to the Qianlong emperor's reign (per the base mark and inscription), for a purported date of 1756. The shape and ornate decoration of this covered vase suggests to me that it's a modern fantasy piece, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will post. |
