Subject:Re: chinese pedestal
Posted By: John Thu, Jun 04, 2015 IP: 69.124.150.171

Hi, Not knowledgable of chinese antiques. I looked on internet for images but I can't find one similar to this pedestal.
It is approximately 30 inches high, has 4 dragon(?) legs and 2 wooden platforms. one on top and one below. The top has a pattern carved around it
The ones I see on the internet have a marble top.
Can anyone tell me about the piece and when it dates from.
...Sorry for first picture being sideways.
Thanks

I'm sure you'll get a few responses, but here goes....

It is Japanese from the late Meiji to early Toshi period (early 1900's).

I have one that is a bit wider and slightly lighter wood.

They are not in high demand in today's market, but they are rather dramatic looking in my humble opinion.

Best,
Tim
