Subject:Help with identification
Posted By: Paul Sun, Jun 07, 2015 IP: 108.95.4.23

This artwork has a label on the back that says Magpies by Wang Wu Original Print. It also says ARTLORE on the left hand side of the label going from top to bottom with the letters. Any help identifying/confirming the artist and time period would be appreciated.

Strikes me as a modern Japanese (mounting, calligraphic style, seal) decorative picture imitating Chinese Ming academy painters of magpies such as, eg:

Not sure why the Japanese would be producing these but neither the calligraphy nor seal seem to refer to a Wang Wu.

Rat,

I appreciate your assistance. Any idea as to what the seal/calligraphy says?

Thank you.

Paul
