Subject:Identification of unknown, multiple sheet Japanese prints
Posted By: RH Sat, Jun 27, 2015 IP: 108.228.239.30

Hello,

Although I have searched high and low, I have been unable to find anything even remotely close to these prints to give me a clue.

Stumbled - literally - upon this site.

Roughly 9" x 13" (22.5 x 33)

There are multiple, identical sheets of the 3 prints.

Any leads would be appreciated.

The top photo has a sig' at the bottom, but doesn't look anything related to Kunisada?

The sig doesn't look like a signature but it wouldn't hurt to show us a close-up. The prints have been creped which was popular in the Meiji period/late 1800s. The colors used were also popular in that period. The printing, in particular the justification of the blocks, doesn't seem to be that good.

Cheers,
Stan

I don't read/speak Japanese. However, I'll reiterate my earlier comment. That doesn't look like a Japanese signature. More like squiggles. I'll let a Japanese speaker correct me.

Cheers,
Stan

The discussion of toy prints in the link below may be of interest.
