Subject:Need indentifying info for lovely painting
Posted By: Bill E. Tue, Jul 14, 2015 IP: 142.162.135.194

This painting belongs to a friend, who received it as a gift no earlier than 20 years ago. The donor said he had bought it in China. My friend says it is on silk and came already framed. She has no idea from what part of China it came. I am attaching photos of the painting, all the script and the block signature. Thanks for any identifying information you can provide.

Chinese, second half 20th century, most likely painted after 1980, by someone signing themselves as Shouping, which is either a given name or pen name. (It also is the given name of an early Qing painter who specialized in flowers, but I don't think your picture is trying to masquerade as being by that artist, who was named Yun Shouping, 恽寿平. If so, your picture is not a convincing imitation.) The title is something like "the dance of spring brightness."
