Goog afternoon! If you are so kind, could you please help me how could i get more information regarding following/attached pictures? It´s come to Argentina more than sixty years on board a Chinese ship, and the captain´s given it as a present/gift to my grandfather, who was very very king and helpful with him. On the other hand, I heard that it could be cost a lot of money, due to it should be made by a famous artist and important materials, like jade(maybe) and others. I will really appreciate your help!! I believe one of the reasons you did not receive any responses for your postings was because most of us are reluctant to open any files posted in other sites. You would be better off just posting better pictures here next time.

I hate to destroy your dream that this shell carving painting was made by a famous artist and/or extremely valuable since I believe it was commercially made and without any artist's signature on it.

The quality of your shell carving picture does look better than the modern one though and it is indeed possible it was made in the 40s and 50s, but most possible on or after 1948 when the People's Republic of China (PRC) was formed.

I would not pay more than $50 for it in an estate sale though. Now of course you may get more money for it in China. Hope this helps. Super
