Subject:Beautiful Silk Embroidery Hanging Art
Posted By: jstav Mon, Oct 05, 2015 IP: 67.232.109.91 My dear Grandma gave me these silk embroideries. I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on them. They were purchased in Panama during the late 1930's/early 1940's.

Posted By: Tim Tue, Oct 06, 2015 At first glance these look like machine stitched embroideries of decorative value only, but if they are in fact hand stitched, they could be very fine examples of Republic period Chinese embroideries.

Posted By: jstav Fri, Oct 09, 2015 Thanks for your response! I took them out of the frame, and they are in fact, machine woven brocades, with very fine detail. They are also from the Republic period, Hangzhou. I thought at first they were from a place called the Du Jinsheng factory. That turned out not to be right either. haha.
