Subject:Large Wucai Style Vase Chinese or Japanese ID Please ?
Posted By: Steve Thu, Oct 08, 2015 IP: 2.121.236.206

Hello Everyone this my very first post on this Message board, so thank you for reading this.

i would like to say i am a huge fan of Asian Art and have been trying to learn what i can for the last 5 years however i regularly get stuck.

i recently purchased this rather large Asian Vase, which i would describe is in the Wucai colour scheme. This would lead me to think it is a Chinese Piece however the hand painted mark on the base looks Japanese to me ? (i do not read any Asian Languages my "Guesses" are based on experience of items i have had before)

i would love to know anything at all about this vase, ideally the Origin. and perhaps the significance of the Door shaped panels on the decoration?

thank you for reading, i will be posting a few ID requests today
kind regards Steve

Probably one of a pair Arita vases signed 'Nanri sei' (made by Nanri) with a trademark containing the character 'Ju' or 'Kotobuki'. Early Meiji period.
