The inscription on the tsuba reads (right to the left) 'Goshu Hikone (no) ju / nyudo Soten sei' (made by the layman
Soten of Hikone in Omi Province] and refers to the school or lineage of Kitagawa Soten, containing successive generations of metalworkers active in the late 17th to 18th century and early 19th century (late Edo period). Many imitations and modern fakes do exist.

Not my field of knowledge. Best thing to do is to contact the Nihonto Message Board for further useful informations (http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/).

Guy.

URL Title :Nyudo Soten
