Now all we have to do is wait for someone to tell us whether this is the work of a Chinese, Japanese or Korean potter, and whether the scene depicts a local farmer or one located somewhere else in Asia. I've seen a lot of Korean vases with the base-mark off center like this, and if this is indeed a Korean work, the mark would read "Un Seng". If Chinese, it would have a mandarin reading of "En Xing". I'm unsure about which of the several possible Japanese readings might apply. |
