Subject:Chinese or South American
Posted By: Mitch Sun, Nov 15, 2015 IP: 86.164.253.187 Hi anyone able to identify or provide info on this item, I think it is Chinese appears all hand carved but not sure on the base and plum above and behind feels great in hand like some type of key. Any observations welcome many thanks. |

Posted By: Mitch Tue, Nov 17, 2015 Yes, my suspicion is South American too but some colleagues are crying Chinese, though I see no similarity with other items of this region. Looks like a female squatting I thought maybe fertility related possibly, anyone else any ideas, would be most welcome, if I had two would make great bookends!!! |

Posted By: Super Thu, Nov 26, 2015 It is possibly a modern fantasy fertility goddess piece that was supposed to be a Neolithic or Hongshan piece. The stain and white weathering on it were made artificially to make it look archaic. It was probably made of serpentine which could be readily found in China. It could be scratched. I had once seen similar pieces on eBay about 8-9 years ago. |
