Subject:OLD Brass Japanese Bowl SIGNED

I need some help trying to age/identify this bowl. I've had it for around 20 years.
It's an OLD brass bowl and I know that because there's a sticker on the back that says "very old" :)
Actually, I know very little about this. I kept it next to my sink and used it to hold wet dish rags etc. ( I know now that wasn't the brightest thing to do)
I tried to clean it today using lemon juice and salt. I let it soak for a while and you can see where a lot of the mixture ran down the back of the piece.
It looks like there's a signature on the front and I've added a close up of that. I would certainly appreciate any information on this.
