Subject:Winged Warrior Figurine
Posted By: Chris D Mon, Dec 07, 2015 IP: 81.110.87.60 The images attached are of a soapstone (?) figurine I was curious about. The figure apears to have wings?!! I''ve not seen anything similar in searching. can anyone shed any light on either the object or possible subject as I've never come across chinese 'angels' before!! many thanks!! |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Dec 08, 2015 Believe the figure is carrying flags. He probably is a character from the Chinese classic, "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". Maybe Liu Bei or another hero. Here's a battle scene with flag in use on a circa mid-19th century yuhuchunping (pear vase) about 9-inches tall. |
