Subject:Help to identify these pictures
Posted By: Robert farmer Mon, Dec 07, 2015 IP: 94.12.185.5

I buy art I have over 250 pieces to my collection so far but have two pictures I know nothing about and they have Asian signatures. If anyone can help I'd be grateful. Bob

This is identified in the inscription as a view of Hong Kong harbor looking South to Hong Kong Island and the Central business district. Date appears to be March 1989, and the painter's name in the red seal appears to be Wang (王), or Wong in Cantonese, but can't read the given name. On the water there's a Star Ferry in mid-crossing and an equally iconic junk under sail. I believe the junk was either owned or sponsored by the Hong Kong Tourist Association. On the right side, you can almost see my old flat in a Mid-levels high-rise at the end of Babington Path with a fine view of the Peak. Probably been turned to dust by new development by now. :(

Best regards,

Bill H.
