Posted By: Steven Fri, Feb 26, 2016 IP: 90.205.59.206

i Have this unusual Long Dish with Dragon and Phoenix Decoration,

i know that you can often date a Piece by the Dragons Face. any ideas of a possible age?

also i have not come across this long type of Dish / Bowl before does anyone know what it may be used for?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this,
kind regards Steven

This is a Japanese dish of a type called nagazara. Its clean condition and lack of markings suggest to me that this one may be fairly recent. But hopefully a more expert collector will weigh in.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you Bill

at first with the presence of the "3 clawed Dragon" i thought it may be Japanese but then Just assumed it was Chinese from the overall design, but thank you for Clarifying that for me. perhaps the photos Do not show there are a few Manufacturing faults especially under glaze, and the overall feel is similar to some Edo Period Artia Pieces i have owned before.
thanks again
kind regards Steven

Hi, this is a 20th C Japanese dish, nagazara. The shape tells me it is modern post 1900.
