Subject:jade censer
Posted By: David Tue, Mar 01, 2016 IP: 99.236.194.58 Hello all! Can someone please tell me how old this jade/ jadeite fu dog censer might be? It measures: 5 3/4" wide (handle to handle) x 4 1/8" in diameter x approx. 3 3/4" high; it does have obvious signs of wear and use and some condition issues i.e. the lid is missing and a small section of the carving has broken off! Any assistance with this query would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! David. |

Posted By: Thayne Fri, Sep 30, 2016 It is clearly missing a lid with the rim being double stepped (it probably was perforated), and the bowl portion is very discolored as well as the cracks and the undersides of the carvings indicating it does have some age to it. Definitely not anything that is newly carved, and may be quite old, though I agree that it isn't the best jade to begin with nor carver who produced it. |
