Subject:Translation Chinese Brush Paintering/Artist - Help needed
Posted By: Elke Sun, Mar 13, 2016 IP: 85.177.130.218

Hello everbody,

I bought two brush paintings the other day.
I wonder if any chinese speaking/reading person could kindly help me to identify the artist.
Am I right to guess, that it is like to be more decorative art?

Thanks very much.

Elke, Germany

yes, not meant as "fine art" but as decorative art. "The Start of Spring, painted by Zishi (子石, a nickname, the characters in the seal are the same but read from the right) in Beijing". Seems like a scene in the hills of southern China, though to me the trees on the mountain behind look coniferous. the seal in the lower right is a "leisure" seal, in this case an aphorism that artist likes. up to several decades old
