Subject:Rice Wine Ewer - Imari Japanese or Chinese ?
Posted By: Steve Mon, Mar 14, 2016 IP: 90.205.59.206

Hello All,

i have this good quality Ewer.
when i brought it i was convinced it was Japanese, just the generall Style and decoration,
however upon my research i cannot find many if any Japanese ewers like this but there are quite a few similar Chinese ones,

there are lots of Ruyi, Blossom and fish scale design in over glaze iron red. which would show up in both Chinese and Japanese Art.

if anyone could varify the origin of this piece and any age suggestions would be great.
thanks
Steve

Looks to be Japanese Imari ware decorated in overglaze enamels in the Kakiemon style. There are similar examples decorated in the ko Kutani style.
