Subject:Help Translate This Asian Character Mark
Posted By: Marvin Tue, Mar 15, 2016 IP: 50.171.25.174

I need help identifying meaning of this Asian character mark. It is on bottom of bronze censer / incense burner. Please tell me translation meaning and possible age date. Thank you very much!

The mark, which is shown upside down, begins with "Imperial Japan" (Dai Nihon). The rest is unreadable, at least to me.

The mark looks to be a second or later generation casting, so could be a Chinese or other attempt to reproduce a Japanese censer. If you bother to repost, please show the whole thing. This forum is not a free translation service but dedicated to scholarly discussion of various types of Asian art.

Thanking you in advance for your cooperation,

Bill H.
