Subject:Chinese Artist Chop Mark and Signature ID
Posted By: pat Sat, Apr 09, 2016 IP: 24.149.88.175

Hi,

I would like to determine the proper name of this artist to get some biographical information.
I have two watercolor prints by the same artist.
Is it Z Cheng?
Perhaps the chop will give more details.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

According to the signature, which is written in Japanese Hiragana, the artist's name is Yoshia. The surname (from the seal) is now pgykztwritten in Pinyin as Zheng 鄭。

Thank you so very much for this information. Sorry for the delay in responding, I didn't receive an email.
Well, I don't know why I immediately jumped to the conclusion it was Chinese. Good to know it is Japanese.
So, Yoshia Zheng is the artist's full name?
Can't thank you enough.
Pat

Yoshio is the given name rather than Yoshia.

Mike:
I should have thought to ask. Is J. Cheng an Americanized version of the name you posted?
Thanks.
