Subject:Large Chinese Vase
Posted By: Richard Sat, Jul 23, 2016 IP: 174.59.71.141

Please help to determine age of this large vase,
25 Lb. 23 1/2" it has a jiang ding export approval
seal. Hopping that it's late Republic Period, I could be wrong here. Thank you very much for your help.

Judging by the drab gilt on the elephant masks and rough looking foot, this pepped-up version of the Indian lotus scroll pattern appears to date from about 1945-1960, or late Republic-early People's Republic. Would almost pass as a faux cloisonné design. The decoration and apocryphal Qianlong mark both appear to be handpainted.

Best regards,

Bill H.
