Posted By: rat Thu, Sep 01, 2016 The characters are 政廣刀，or "carved by Shoko/Seiko". A Japan expert may be better able to pinpoint the name pronunciation.

Posted By: Guy Fri, Sep 02, 2016 Eventually, the artist could be Sawada Seikô (澤田政廣, 1894-1988), painter and sculptor who made similar polychromed wooden statues of Japanese deities.
