Subject:Woodblock print questions
Posted By: Christopher E Sun, Oct 09, 2016 IP: 2602:0306:c4bb:a420: I received some woodblock prints and have a couple questions. I know they are part of "The 53 Stations of the Tokaido" but I can't nail down a date for for this printing. I found the edge marks but can't interpret them. Second, when I removed them from the frame I noticed the years under the matting left them darkened. Can these be cleaned? Any help would be great. Thanks? |

Posted By: Guy Thu, Oct 13, 2016 The cartouche in the left hand margin mentions that this official re-edition was supervised by Takahashi Seiichirô, (1884-1982), a famous Japanese economist but also a ukiyo-e scholar and specialist of Hiroshige. |
