Subject:antique jade turtles

Does anyone know what this is ,I know the mark means buddha or buddhism and I believe it's jade .Would it be a mistake to clean and polish it ?

Nice little string of turtles. it looks like a lower grade nephrite, and needs a good cleaning.. detergent, soft toothbrush(not your own), and they will look a lot better. They seem to be about 40 - 50 years old, not antique yet. Dirt does not make old.
