Posted By: Richard Fallon Mon, Dec 12, 2016 IP: 2601:0300:4301:8374:

We have come across several pieces of Japanese art we are trying to identify for a local estate. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Why do you call this Japanese art when it clearly comes from the shop in the Shanghai museum in China.

The style the picture is clearly Chinese,

The technique is not Japanese.

The Japanese are not the only print makers.

Chinese artists are just as famous for their woodblock prints.

in case you were unaware, Shanghai is located in China. you have a printed reproduction sold by the museum shop, for RMB 750. your client can tell you wnen it was purchased and you can calculate the equivalent exchange rate at the time using oanda.com.
