Posted By: Robert Thu, Dec 29, 2016 You should be able to get a general idea of the time period by assessing the composition of the artwork, as well as the techniques and materials used, including the range of silk embroidery stitches, the quality of the embroidery, the colors/dyes used (synthetic dyes were not used until the 1870s or later), and finally, the ground fabric onto which the embroidery stitches are applied. My feeling is that your embroidery was most likely made for export during the first half of the 20th century. |
