Subject:signed? woodblocks help needed
Posted By: lori Fri, Feb 03, 2017 IP: 173.63.34.37

I have a pair of what appears to be woodblock prints, although it looks in place to be hand colored, each measuring about 9.0x14.0 inches (sight)

They are both marked in the same manner.

They appear to be on rather thick paper.

I'm hoping someone can identify or translate the markings; I don't know if they are simply decorative or if they have much value.

I appreciate any help given!

Thank you…

Lori

Your Japanese woodblock prints are by Toyohara Kunichika and are from his series "Comparison of Flowers and the Twelve Months". Yours correspond to the 4th (right) and 5th lunar months. His prints sell for around $100.

Here is a link to month 10:

Cheers,
Stan
