Subject:Japanese 19th c Plate
Posted By: VICTOR JUDGE Wed, Mar 08, 2017 IP: 86.191.81.97

I have a pair of Plates that look in style like a Chinese 18th c Wucai Famille verte.

I can't read the two character mark and would like help identifying the maker, etc.

I thought that it looked a bit like a Koransha mark.

Thanks for any help.

Vic

This is the mark of the Seiji Kaisha company, a Fukagawa-related manufacturer of fine porcelain wares that operated circa the last quarter of the 19th century. Here's one of their ten-inch trays.

Best regards,

Bill H.
