Help with understanding text/signature painting |
Posted By: rat Posted Date: Sep 14, 2019 (12:13 PM) |
Message This is a village wedding procession (indicated by the character for 喜喜"double happiness" on one of the wagons). The genre is known as "peasant painting" because it arose in the 1970s I think out of some groups of farmers painting scenes from daily life. These were pretty popular among western visitors to China in the 1980s but are less common now. Unfortunately I can't read much of the inscription, but the artist (right column) seems to be surnamed Pan 潘 Post a Response |
