| Help identifying Japanese signature and seal — possible artist “Matsuki” |

Message Signature, 満史 Manji Matsuki Seal, 猫 Neko - Cat Matsuki Manji 松木満史 1906-1971 Western-style painter of the Showa period. He was born in Aomori.He joined Seikogasha, a group of Western-style painters from Aomori that was founded at the initiative of Munakata Shiko, and became a member.Then moved to Tokyo.He studied in France from 1938 to 1940. In 1943, he stayed in North China as a war painter . In 1947, he became a member of the Kokugakai and became known for his works featuring horses and cats. With regards, I.Nagy Post a Response |
