Help identifying a Japanese/Chinese painting signed “吉生” (Yoshio/Jisheng?)

Hi everyone, I recently acquired a set of paintings in a NY upstate antique store (one large, two smaller) featuring plum blossoms and long-tailed white birds, set against a gold patchwork background. In the lower right corner, there is a signature reading “吉生” along with a red seal. I assumed is a kind of gouache decor. I want to ask if anyone recognizes the artist, or if this is more likely a decorative Nihonga-style work from mid-20th century Japan/China? Thank you very much for any help or insights
