When we bought it, we did think it was Japanese, as indicated by some clues my search found ; but a Japanese friend told us it was not Japanese calligraphy... and we were dumbfounded. I also thought it was a presentation gift because of the positioning of the calligraphy!
any idea of age? could it be Arita?
