During the late 20th century and possibly nowadays too, this type of stonework on wood was featured not only on wall art but sets of lacquered furniture and paneled screens in department and specialty stores in principal Hong Kong shopping districts. These articles also could be purchased at discounted prices in the sales rooms of the Royal Navy's China Fleet Club, where British government and foreign consular personnel in the colony were allowed to shop. I resisted the urge to buy any of it, having previously been warned that the stones sometimes tended to fall off when the furniture went into the low-humidity of air-conditioned homes.
