Subject:Unusual Chinese Overstamp (?)

I've recently come across this Chinese rice pattern cup and saucer.
Both pieces appear to bear an underglaze blue mark which has been subsequently overstamped with a circular iron red mark, the like of which I've not yet seen.

Would anyone be able to shed any light on the origin and age of these pieces.
