Subject:Blue & White Chinese Vase Unknown Bottom Mark
Posted By: Udo Sun, Feb 18, 2024 IP: 121.44.205.47

Require help as I cannot identify and asign a time period to the mark at the bottom. Is it modern (new) Copy/Fake, vintage or older ? The vase is 160mm in height. If an Expert could please have a look and help me out it would be much appreciated. Thank You.

The mark is a stab at “Made during the Qianlong reign“ by someone who apparently never studied calligraphy seriously.

The figures and other details have some faded and spotty areas suggestive of application by printed transfers that we scorched in the kiln during the firing process.

The clues would indicate a circa mid-20th century date of manufacture.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Oops, let a typo slip by. Should have been ".. transfers that WERE scorched in the kiln..."

Thank you Bill for looking at it and providing information for me on the item.
Possibly only good for decoration, I think transfer could be correct although I could not find any overlaping, but lots of very fine dots, no brush marks.

modern/new fantasy piece with a very crudely made mark ascribing it to the Qianlong emperor's reign.
